“I teach to help students become lifelong learners and caring leaders in their communities.”
Arnelle Williams joined Poly Prep as a Middle School English teacher in 2021. Before coming to Poly, Arnelle taught Grade 6 English at Ebenezer Preparatory School in Brooklyn, NY, and Grades 7 and 8 English and Dance at W.A. Higgins Middle School in Clarksdale, MS for Teach For America. As a teacher, one of her proudest achievements was seeing her students flourish outside of the classroom. She created an affinity group for girls called Her Diaries and raised funds to sponsor three participants to attend the 2019 Girl Up Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C.
Arnelle completed her master’s degree in Private School Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University and her bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Wesleyan University. When Arnelle is not teaching, she loves to watch documentaries, read, travel, and spend time with family and friends. Arnelle is passionate about youth development and equity in education. She has advanced this passion by taking on a leadership role as a Middle School coordinator in Poly’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Department.
