“Poly has the talent to be good not only in New York, but also at the national level.”
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Ben Diaz showcased his athleticism as a four-year member of the varsity volleyball and basketball programs at Glendale Academy, earning school athlete of the year honors as a junior and a senior. He became a personal trainer after earning his bachelor’s in kinesiology from La Sierra University, but eventually found his passion as a volleyball coach, leading La Salle High School to a league title in his first season. Ben had winning stints at South Pasadena High School and Notre Dame High School. He also coached highly successful programs from the SG Elite Volleyball Club, earning bronze medals at the USA Junior Championships in 2014 and 2017. Upon his arrival in New York, Ben co-founded the Brooklyn Elite Volleyball Club and joined the Poly coaching staff in 2017, quickly making his mark with back-to-back NYSAIS titles for the girls’ team. With high expectations built on years of success, Ben is confident that he can maintain winning programs in Brooklyn.
