Everett Nelor joined Poly Prep as an Upper School Dean in 2023. Prior to Poly, Everett worked as Dean of Students for Grades 10-12 at Avenues The World School, NY, and Assistant Director of College Counseling at The Peddie School. As a former boarding student at Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN, Everett thrived in his role as a dorm parent at Peddie–whether it was helping students with college essays, teaching his advisees how to knit, or watching “90-Day Fiance” after study hall, Everett’s favorite ways to get to know students occur outside of “traditional” meetings and stem from quality time. He has also spent several summers volunteering at College Horizons as a mentor and college counselor for Indigenous students, primarily supporting rising juniors and seniors of Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian backgrounds.
Everett hails from Atlanta, GA, and after serving in AmeriCorps VISTA during his gap year, attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME. After graduating with a BA in Psychology, he moved to Los Angeles where he spent four years working in the Admissions department at Occidental College. It was in California that he also developed a love for the Dodgers that remains to this day.
