Building Engineer Gaudencio Andrade P’12,’16 has worked at Poly since 1992. He can be seen anywhere on the Dyker Heights campus where his expertise is needed – and sometimes behind-the-scenes. His skills have served Poly well over the course of his tenure and tells us that the project he has been proudest of being a part of was the construction of the Steinberg Athletic Complex. During the pandemic years when Poly pivoted to outdoor learning, he ran electric and water to the outdoor sinks and the portable restrooms, as well as installed hand sanitizer dispensers in each tent. “I also assisted the electricians and other contractors when needed,” he said. “I ensured that all electricity was working and made sure that all tents and facilities were good to go.” In addition to the daily maintenance of the Poly campus, Andrade also supervises our plumbing contractors for any adjustments to day-to-day layouts and installations.
