“I hope my students will love to study the ever-changing story of the United States and to be as excited as I am to study history.”
U.S. history is the passion of Susan Beiles P’88, ’90, ’95, who has taught at Poly since 1979. In addition to teaching AP U.S. History each year, Susan has taught U.S. History, World History, 20th-Century History, and an elective in sociology. “Each year is a new experience with new students,” Susan says. “To work with them, to guide them on their path to intellectual awakening and academic excellence, fuels each day. My three daughters are Poly alums and now three granddaughters are here. My daughter, Laura Coppola ’95, is Charles and Valerie Diker Chair of Visual Arts. Poly is deeply entwined in my life.” Susan wants her students “to be enthusiastic learners and nourish their intellectual passions.”
