Xerxes Vizcaino has been helping keep Poly safe since 2008. In 2017, he moved from the Dyker campus to Park Slope. In 2024, he was named Director of Security, Safety & Transportation. In this role, he oversees and implements all safety and security operations across both Poly Prep campuses including fire and lockdown drills, student transportation and logistics, emergency response, campus surveillance, risk management support, asset protection, and supervises more than 15 security guards, among other responsibilities.
With the safety of the Poly community always at front of mind, Xerxes has earned and maintains multiple safety and emergency-related New York state and city credentials, licenses, and certifications and is always seeking to improve protocols and procedures. He also fosters positive relationships with the security team and enjoys collaborating with colleagues to build a positive, safe environment for all.
A lifelong Brooklynite, Xerxes says getting to know everyone is the best part of his role. By doing so, he says, it “creates trust and builds support—and that’s always a good thing when it comes to school safety.”
